The total global ginger production in 2019 was estimated around 3,299,795 tonnes. According to the data, India is the largest ginger producing country in the world. Ginger production in India accounts for around 54% of the total global production. In 2019, around 1,788,000 tonnes of ginger was produced in India making it the top ginger producer in the world.

It is followed by Nigeria, China, Nepal, Indonesia & Thailand. Nigeria is the second largest producer of ginger with total production of around 691,239 tonnes (21% of the total global ginger production) in 2019. China is at 3rd position with total production of around 605,123 tonnes of ginger (18% of the total global ginger production) in 2019.

It is followed by Karnataka, Assam, Maharashtra & West Bengal. Karnataka is the second largest ginger production state in India with around 306,340 tonnes (13.80% of the total ginger production in India).

Assam is the third largest ginger production state of India with total production of around 170,730 tonnes of ginger. It accounts for around 7.69% of the total ginger production in India.
