Pro Tray Nursery Technique
Follow the following guidelines step by step to germinate seeds using the pro tray nursery technique:
- To germinate seeds using this technique, you need to have germination trays having 50 cells each. The number and depth of the cells can vary, we have taken this measure to exhibit the quantity required for preparing trays.
- Take sterilized cocopeat, neem cake, Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria in the ratio 300:5:1:1. It means you need to take 300 Kilograms of cocopeat, 5 Kilograms of Neem cake and 1 Kilogram each of Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria. For a smaller quantity, i.e. for gardening, you can take 300 grams of cocopeat, 50 grams of neem cake, and 10 grams each of Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria.
- Once you have mixed them fill all the germination tray with the prepared mixture and make a hole in the center with the help of a stick to sow seeds.
- Sow one seed in each cell of the tray with the help of sterilized forceps. After sowing seeds, water gently with the help of a watering can.
- Keep trays one above another and cover them with the help of a polythene sheet.
- After 6 to 7 days, when the seeds start germinating, shift the germination tray individually on raised beds inside the shade net.
- You need to check for moisture in the tray every day and water accordingly. On the 18th day, prepare a 0.5% solution of NPK (19:19:19) and spray on seedlings.
