Sapota also known as "Chiku" is an oval to round shaped delicious fruit which is widely consumed in many parts of the world. It is cultaved to get "chickle" which is used to make chewing gums.
India is the largest producer of sapota is the world. Around 3.87 lakh tonnes of sapota is produced in the country every year.
Gujarat is the largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 32.84% of the total production which is around 273,870 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Andhra Pradesh is the second largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 24.24% of the total production which is around 202,200 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Maharashtra is the third largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 13.08% of the total production which is around 109,100 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Karnataka is the fourth largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 12.23% of the total production which is around 102,000 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
West Bengal is the fifth largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 5.68% of the total production which is around 47,380 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Tamil Nadu is the sixth largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 3.53% of the total production which is around 29,430 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Haryana is the seventh largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 2.66% of the total production which is around 22,160 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Telangana is the eighth largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 2.47% of the total production which is around 20,580 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Orissa the ninth largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 1.62% of the total production which is around 13,520 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
Madhya Pradesh the tenth largest Sapota producing state in India. Around 0.80% of the total production which is around 6,680 tonnes was produced from 2021 to 2022.
