Largest Honey Producing States In India

Introduction

Honey is considered as one of the best natural superfood as it contains vital nutrients such as glucose, fructose, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, & antioxidants.

Largest Producer

China is the largest producer of honey in the world. Annually around 472,000 metric tons of honey is produced. It is followed by Turkey, Iran, Argentina, and Ukraine. 

India

India is the 7th largest producer of honey in the world. Annually around 67,442 tonnes of honey is produced. However, New Zealand is the largest exporter of honey. 

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of honey in the world. Around 30% of the total production comes from this Indian state which is famous for traditional apiculture.

Gujarat

Gujarat is the 2nd largest honey-producing state of India where honey is widely produced in the Kheda, Anand, & Vadodara districts. It accounts for 15% of the total production. 

Punjab

Punjab is the 3rd largest honey producing state of India. Mustard honey is produced primarily in the Ludhiana, Jalandhar & Amritsar districts. 

Bihar

Bihar is the 4th largest honey producing state of India. The major honey producing districts are Vaishali, Muzaffarpur & Samastipur. 

Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh contributes about 7% of the total honey production of India which makes it the 5th largest honey-producing state in the country.
