Fishbone cactus also known as Zig Zag & Ric Rac cactus plant is native to Mexico. Apart for fishbone shaped foliage it is also famous for fragrant flowers in the fall season.
Warm humid climate with temperature ranging from 16 to 25 degrees Celsius & humidity above 60% is favourable.
Well drained, aerated soil rich in organic matter is good. Prepare potting mix with one part cactus soil, one part perlite, one part peat moss, & one part orchid bark mix
Keep under direct morning sunlight for 2 hours and then hift to bright indirect sunlight throughout the day for best growth & results.
Unlike other cactus that require much less watering, for fishbone cactus moderate watering is good. Apply water when top layer of soil becomes dry.
Once after every 60 days you can add one handful of neem cake fertilizer or dung manure. During fall season add bone meal to promote flowering.
To propagate fish bone cactus take stem cutting with the help of scissor & plant the bottom end in soil, keep the soil moist, roots will grow within 10 days.
