Introduction

Sharad Anantrao Joshi was an Indian politician and member of Parliament representing Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha & a member of Advisory Board of the World Agricultural Forum.

Shetkari Sanghatana 

Sharad Joshi founded the Shetkari Sanghatana in the state of Maharashtra, India, in 1980. The mission was to promote the interests of farmers. 

KCC

He also found Kisan Coordination Committee (KCC) which composed of sister organizations from around 14 states in the country. 

Works 

Mr. Joshi led a number of agitations  in various Indian states for high prices of onions, sugar cane, tobacco, milk, paddy, cotton in the market.  

Goals

Mr. Joshi wanted freedom from the government intervention in agricultural markets, fair prices for agricultural produce and access to modern farming techniques. 

Economic Freedom

He believed that farmers should have the freedom to sell their produce at market prices without government interference & opposed the idea of minimum selling price. 

Liberalization

Joshi was in favour of liberalizing India's agricultural sector by allowing market forces to play a greater role and reduce government control. 

Controversial 

It's important to note that Sharad Joshi's views on agriculture were controversial and sparked debates within India's agricultural community as it doesn't seem practical.
