Morning glory is a perennial flowering plant which is native to tropical climate. Flowers of morning glory represents love, peace, royality, nobility etc.
You can easily grow them as perennials in hot tropical to sub-tropical climate, but they grow as annuals in cold temperate climate.
Well drained, loamy to sandy loam soil rich in organic matter is good. Prepare potting mix with 40% garden soil + 20% river sand + 40% bulky organic compost.
Grow morning glory plant under bright direct sunlight for at least 6 hours daily. Avoid growing them in low light conditions.
Moderate watering is good for morning glory. Only apply water when top layer of soil becomes dry, do not the soil dry for longer spells.
Apply one handful of vermicompost or leaf manure along with onion peel fertilizer once after every 30 days from spring to fall season.
You can propagate morning glory plant through seeds or stem cuttings in spring and late summer season. They will take around 120 days to start flowering.
You can also use leaves of Ipomea or Morning glory plant to prepare organic bio-pesticide popularly known as "Aagneyastra." to protect your plant from pests.
