Broccoli is a green vegetable that belongs to the cabbage family. It is rich in Vitamin K and Calcium and is good for bone health, that's why it is widely cultivated in the world.
The United States of America is the third largest broccoli-producing country in the world. Around 700,920 tonnes of broccoli were produced in America.
The major recommended cultivars of broccoli for the northeastern United States are Captain, Everest, Imperial, Emerald Pride, Gypsy, Pinnacle, Packman, Diplomat, etc.
Undoubtedly, California is the king of broccoli production in the United States of America. It contributes around 90% of the total broccoli production in the country.
Around 624,107 tonnes of broccoli were produced in California in 2021. It is followed by Arizona with production of around 76,813 tonnes of broccoli.
Monterey County, California accounts for 40% of the total broccoli production in California. It is located near the center of the California coastline & has a moderate temperature.
According to sources, in 2022, price per unit of broccoli in the United States amounted to 67.4 U.S. dollars per cwt., therefore it is a profitable farming business.
