Coffee is the third most consumed beverage in the world after water and tea. Around 94% of French people drink coffee every day.
According to the stories, the Ethiopian goat herder Kaldi discovered coffee around 800 AD. He noticed his goats getting energized after eating berries.
However, Sufi monks were among the first to brew coffee as a beverage. They used to consume coffee to get energized to pray through the night.
Brazil, situated in South America, is the largest coffee-producing country in the world, followed by Vietnam, Colombia, Ethiopia, etc.
Every year, around 2.68 million metric tons of coffee are produced in Brazil. It has been the largest producer for over 150 years.
Most of Brazil's coffee is grown in the 5 southeastern states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, and São Paulo.
So next time if you're having a cup of coffee, you can take a moment to thank farmers in Brazil who have worked really hard to produce coffee beans!
