Kiwi also known as "Chinese Gooseberry" is a deciduous vine fruit crop that are cultivated in temperate climate.
Kiwi originated in China. Before 20th Century Kiwi was popular as "Yang Tao." China is still the largest producer of Kiwi.
After China, Italy, New Zealand, Iran, Chile, Greece, France, Turkey, etc. are the largest producer of Kiwi.
Kiwis are grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 5 to 9. It requires 800 chilling hours for successful cultivation.
You can grow kiwi in well drained, sandy loam soil rich in organic matter that has soil pH 6.5 to 7.3.
Hilly region that are above 800 to 1500 metres above mean sea level are best for cultivation of Kiwi,
If summer temperature rises above 35 degree Celsius, then cultivation of Kiwi is not possible.
Kiwi fruits are packed with Vitamin-B and C, Potassium, Phosphorus, & Calcium. Eating kiwi helps in reducing risk of heart disease.
