Tulips are herbaceous, spring blooming flowering plants that produces red, pink, yellow, to white coloured alluring flowers.
You can start growing tulips during fall, i.e., late September to December for getting flowers during spring season.
Well drained, sandy loam soil is considered best for planting tulips as they do not love wet soil.
You will have to plant the bulb 6 to 8 inches deep. Cover it with soil & apply water after plantation,
Tulips love direct sunlight to grow. Plant in a spot where it can receive at least 6 hours of sunlight daily.
You can water once in a week. But during spring time do not add much water. Avoid soggy condition of the soil.
After plantation you can use balanced fertilizer (NPK) 10:10:10 along with two tea spoon of bone-meal once every month.
Protect you tulips from slugs, snails, aphids, bulb rot, mice, and gray mould. You can use neem oil for control.
