What Is Epsom Salt & How To Use On Plants

by aditya abhishek

Introduction

Also known as magnesium sulfate, is a mineral compound composed of magnesium, sulfur, and oxygen. It is named after the town of Epsom in Surrey, England.

Uses

It is widely used in gardening and agriculture as a natural source of magnesium and sulfur, which are essential nutrients for plant growth.

Magnesium is a crucial element for chlorophyll synthesis, which is necessary for photosynthesis, the process by which plants produce energy from sunlight.

Sulfur, on the other hand, is essential for the production of amino acids and proteins, which are important for plant growth and development.

How To Use

1 tablespoon of Epsom salt in 1 litre of water, and spray the solution on the leaves of the plant. They are primarily helpful for tomato, peppers & roses.

Soil Drench

You can also dilute 1 tablspoon epsom salt in one litre of water & apply around the base of the plant. It gets easily absorbed by the roots.

Potting Mix

Mix 1-2 tablespoons of Epsom salt into the soil or potting mix before planting. This method ensures that the plant receives a consistent supply of nutrients throughout its growth cycle.
