In the world there are over 20,000 species of edible vegetables out of which tomato is the largest consumed vegetable in the world.
China is the largest producer of vegetables in the world with total production of around 594,049,398 tonnes.
India is the second largest producer of vegetables in the world with total annual production of around 141,195,036. It is followed by United States, Turkey, Vietnam, etc.
However, it is the largest producer of okra & ginger and second largest producer of Potatoes, Onions, Cauliflowers, Brinjal, Cabbages, etc. in the world.
West Bengal is the largest producer of vegetables in India with total production of around 26,354,610 tonnes.
Uttar Pradesh is the second largest producer of vegetables in India with total production of around 23,575,610 tonnes.
Bihar is the third largest producer of vegetables in India with total production of around 14,467,150 tonnes.
Madhya Pradesh is the fourth largest producer of vegetables in India with total production of around 14,315,410 tonnes.
Gujarat is the fifth largest producer of vegetables in India with total production of around 11,543,290 tonnes.
