Tomatoes are regarded as the most popular vegetable in the world. Globally around 177.04 metric tonnes of tomatoes are produced every year in the world.
China is the largest tomato producing country in the world. Every year it produces around 56,423,811 tonnes of tomatoes.
India is the second largest tomato producing country in the world. Annually around 18,399,000 tonnes of tomatoes are produced in the country.
After India, United States, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Iran, Spain, Brazil, etc. are the major producers of tomatoes in the world.
Andhra Pradesh is the largest tomato-producing state in India. It contributes around 16.22% of the total production which is around 3,146,960 tonnes of tomatoes.
Madhya Pradesh is the second largest tomato-producing state in India. It contributes around 12.95% of the total production which is around 2,511,890 tonnes of tomatoes.
Karnataka is the third largest tomato-producing state in India. It contributes around 9.16% of the total production which is around 1,775,790 tonnes of tomatoes.
Gujarat is the fourth largest tomato-producing state in India. It contributes around 7.05% of the total production which is around 1,366,570 tonnes of tomatoes.
Orissa is the fifth largest tomato-producing state in India. It contributes around 6.73% of the total production which is around 1,305,310 tonnes of tomatoes.
