Tea was discovered by Emperor Shen Nung in 2732 BC in China. Later on, it traveled to other parts of the world & now it is cultivated in more than 30 countries.
China is the largest producer of tea in the world. The annual production of tea in China is around 2,400,000 tonnes. It is followed by India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Turkey, etc.
India is the second largest producer of tea in the world. The annual production of tea in India is around 900,000 tonnes.
Assam is the largest tea producing state of India. The annual production of tea in Assam is around 700 million Kilograms of tea.
West Bengal is the second largest tea producing state of India. The annual production of tea in West Bengal is around 330 million Kilograms of tea.
Tamil Nadu is the third largest tea producing state of India. The annual production of tea in Tamil Nadu is around 161 million Kilograms of tea.
Kerala is the fourth largest tea producing state of India. The annual production of tea in Kerala is around 57 million Kilograms of tea.
Karnataka is the fifth largest tea producing state of India. The annual production of tea in Karnataka is around 6 million Kilograms of tea.
