Pomegranates regarded as one of the most ancient fruit crops originated in Persia and is now cultivated in more than 50 countries.
India is not only the largest producer but it is also the world's largest exporter of pomegranates in the world.
Maharashtra is the largest producer of pomegranate in India. It accounts for 54.85% of the total production which is around 1,763,990 tonnes.
Gujarat is the second largest producer of pomegranate in India. It accounts for 21.28% of the total production which is around 684,320 tonnes.
Karnataka is the third largest producer of pomegranate in India. It accounts for 9.51% of the total production which is around 305,720 tonnes.
Andhra Pradesh is the fourth largest producer of pomegranate in India. It accounts for 8.82% of the total production which is around 283,540 tonnes.
Madhya Pradesh is the fifth largest producer of pomegranate in India. It accounts for 2.34% of the total production which is around 75,160 tonnes.
