Top Lychee Producing States In India

Introduction

Lychee which originated in China is one of the most loved tropical fruits in the world especially in India & China because of its sweet & flowery flavour. 

Production 

China is the largest producer of lychee in the world. China & India contributes about 91% of the total Lychee production in the world. 

India

In India, around 56,200 hectares of farmland is used for the cultivation of lychee on which 428,900 metric tonnes of lychee is produced every year. 

Bihar

Bihar is the largest producer  state of lychee in India. It accounts for 74% of the total lychee production in the country which comes around 317 386 metric tonnes of lychee. 

West Bengal

West Bengal is the second largest lychee producing state of India. It is followed by Jharkhand Assam and Chhattisgarh. 

Other States

Other lychee producing states of India are Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Odisha, Tripura, Nagaland, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, etc. 

Shahi Lychee

Shahi lychee is the most popular lychee variety in the world because of its unique taste & texture but it could be only grown in North Bihar, especially in Muzaffarpur.
