Apple farming is one of the most profitable farming businesses in the world. However, success depends on selected variety, climatic factors, farming technology & marketing.
China is the largest producer of apples in the world. It produces around 42,426,578 tonnes of apples every year. This is followed by the United States, Turkey, Poland, India, etc.
India is the fifth largest producer of apples in the world. Annualy around 2,316,000 tonnes of apples are grown in India.
Jammu & Kashmir is the largest apple-producing Union Territory in India. It accounts for around 70% of the total country's apple production which is around 1,719,420 tonnes.
Himachal Pradesh is the largest apple-producing state in India. It accounts for around 26.42% of the total country's apple production which is around 643,850 tonnes.
Uttarakhand is the second largest apple-producing state in India. It accounts for around 2.66% of the total country's apple production which is around 64,880 tonnes.
Arunachal Pradesh is the third largest apple-producing state in India. It accounts for around 0.30% of the total country's apple production which is around 7,340 tonnes.
Nagaland is the fourth largest apple-producing state in India. It accounts for around 0.07% of the total country's apple production which is around 1,800 tonnes.
Telangana is the fifth largest apple-producing state in India. The yearly contribution of Telangana state is around 80 tonnes of apple.
