India is the 7th largest walnut producing country in the world. Around 282,200 tonnes of walnut was produced in India from 2021-2022. Here are largest walnut producing states in India.
Sikkim is the fifth largest walnut producing state in India. However, in Sikkim walnuts are not cultivated for commercial purpose.
Arunachal Pradesh is the fourth largest walnut producing state in India. It contribtes o.22% of the total production which is around 630 tonnes of walnut.
Himachal Pradesh is the third largest walnut producing state in India. It contribtes 1.39% of the total production which is around 3,910 tonnes of walnut.
Uttarakhand is the second largest walnut producing state in India. It contribtes 6.71% of the total production which is around 18,930 tonnes of walnut.
Jammu & Kashmir is the largest walnut producing union territory (earlier state) in India. It contribtes 91.68% of the total production which is around 258,730 tonnes of walnut.
The most cultivated walnut varieties in India are Wilson, Kashmir Budded, Eureka, Franquetfe, Lake English, Opex Caulchry, etc.
