Turmeric is a spice crop that is cultivated widely in India. In nearly every household in India, turmeric is used to prepare dishes. Let's get to know the largest turmeric-producing states in India.
India is the largest producer, exporter as well as consumer or turmeric in the world. Around 11 lakhs tonnes of turmeric is produced in India every year.
Assam is the tenth largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 20,880 tonnes of turmeric (1.78% of the total) was produced in Assam.
Mizoram is the ninth largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 29,570 tonnes of turmeric (2.52% of the total) was produced in Mizoram.
Orissa is the eighth largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 43,610 tonnes of turmeric (3.71% of the total) was produced in Orissa.
West Bengal is the seventh largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 45,900 tonnes of turmeric (3.90% of the total) was produced in West Bengal.
Madhya Pradesh is the sixth largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 68,850 tonnes of turmeric (5.86% of the total) was produced in Madhya Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh is the fifth largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 74,690 tonnes of turmeric (6.35% of the total) was produced in Andhra Pradesh.
Tamil Nadu is the fourth largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 95,570 tonnes of turmeric (8.13% of the total) was produced in Tamil Nadu.
Karnataka is the third largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 130,970 tonnes of turmeric (11.14% of the total) was produced in Karnataka.
Maharashtra is the second largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 262,610 tonnes of turmeric (22.34% of the total) was produced in Maharashtra.
Telangana is the largest turmeric producing state in India. From 2021 to 2022 around 330,260 tonnes of turmeric (28.09% of the total) was produced in Telangana.
