However India is not a major producer of capsicum in the world, but around 518,160 tonnes of capsicum was produced on 46 thousand hectare land from 2021-2022.
Uttarakhand is the tenth largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 16,540 tonnes of capsicum (2.94% of the total) was produced in Uttarakhand.
Jammu & Kashmir is the ninth largest capsicum producing Union territory in India. Around 20,800 tonnes of capsicum (3.69% of the total) was produced in Jammu & Kashmir.
Maharashtra is the eighth largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 26,810 tonnes of capsicum (4.76% of the total) was produced in Maharashtra.
Punjab is the seventh largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 28,510 tonnes of capsicum (5.06% of the total) was produced in Punjab.
Madhya Pradesh is the sixth largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 34,670 tonnes of capsicum (6.16% of the total) was produced in Madhya Pradesh.
Himachal Pradesh is the fifth largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 48,860 tonnes of capsicum (8.68% of the total) was produced in Himachal Pradesh.
Jharkhand is the fourth largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 56,840 tonnes of capsicum (10.10% of the total) was produced in Jharkhand.
Haryana is the third largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 59,060 tonnes of capsicum (10.49% of the total) was produced in Haryana.
Karnataka is the second largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 59,370 tonnes of capsicum (10.54% of the total) was produced in Karnataka.
West Bengal is the largest capsicum producing state in India. Around 166,700 tonnes of capsicum (29.61% of the total) was produced in Karnataka.
