Every year around 113,212,452 tonnes of banana is produced in the world. By the end of 2023, the banana market is expected to reach US $ 139.72 billion.
Rwanda is the tenth largest banana producing country in the world. Primarily 'Intuntu' (55%) & 'Intokatoke' (30%) cultivars of banana are cultivated in Rwanda.
Tanzania is the ninth largest banana producing country in the world. Tanzania has over 20 varieities of banana, & are used as fruit, vegetables and preparing local beer.
Guatemala is the eighth largest banana producing country in the world. Most commonly found banana in Guatemala are Cavendish bananas, baby banana, pink banana & plantain.
Angola is the seventh largest banana producing country in the world. In Angola, farmer primarily cultivated the Cavendish banana, as it is easy to grow & maintain.
Philippines is the sixth largest banana producing country in the world. However, they are the second largest exporter of bananas in the world.
Ecuador is the fifth largest banana producing country in the world. Around 65% of the banana produced are exported to European Union, Russia, and the USA.
Brazil is the fourth largest banana producing country in the world. It accounts for accounts for around 10% of the entire world banana production.
Indonesia is the third largest banana producing country in the world. Every year around 7,007,125 tonnes of banana is produced in Indonesia.
China is the second largest banana producing country in the world. Every year around 13,324,337 tonnes of banana is produced in China.
India is the largest banana producing country in the world. Every year around 29,124,000 tonnes of banana is produced in India.
