Scindapsus pictus or Sating pothos is an easy to grow trailing houseplant which is native to India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, etc.
Warm & humid tropical climate with temperature ranging from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius is good for growing satin pothos.
Well draining soil with high organic content is good for this plant. Prepare potting mix with 50% garden soil + 30% organic compost + 20% cocopeat.
Keep satin pothos under bright indirect sunlight throughout the day. Keeping under direct sunlight can cause leaf burns.
Avoid overwatering, only apply water when top layer of soil becomes dry, make sure to have drainage holes at the bottom of pot.
From spring to fall you can add one table spoon of tea leaf compost once after every 30 days to help this plant grow.
From spring to summer season you can propagate satin pothos by taking 4 inches stem cuttings and planting them to a new pot.
3 varities or types of satin pothos are quite popular among plant lovers and they are Scindapsus pictus ‘Silvery Ann(e)’, Scindapsus pictus ‘Argyraeus,’ & Scindapsus pictus ‘Exotica.’
