By Aditya abhishek

In floriculture industry, rose is one of the most popular crop for earning good profit. From 1 acre rose farm you can earn up to 1000 $.

Farmers can sell their harvest to local markets or to industries dealing in perfume, rose water, essential oils, jam, syrup, etc.

You can select Floribunda, Grandiflora, Hybrid Tea, or Polyanthus rose for commercial cultivation of rose.

However, if you want to get higher yield then you need to practice these steps very carefully. Before starting make sure to get familiar with market demand around your region.

Fertile, Well drained, loamy soil with good water holding capacity and pH of 6 to 6.5 is ideal for cultivation of rose.

You can practice rose farming where climate is relatively cooler than hot tropical areas. Average temperature range of 15 to 25 degree Celsius is ideal.

For rose plantation, you need to prepare field. Practice ploughing & hoeing 4 to 5 times. Then prepare pits of 60 centimetres depth.

Maintain spacing of 30×15 centimetres among pits. Fill pits with 2 tonnes of Manure, Bone meal, Leaf Manure, 25 Kilograms of Urea, and 2 Kilograms of superphosphate.

Now you can transplant your prepared rose cuttings in the farm. You will be able to plant approximately 7000 rose plants in an acre

Each rose plant requires 1 litre of water per plant. Avoid sprinklers in rose farm instead use drip irrigation system for better results.

Once after every 3 months apply 10 Kilograms of Farm Yard Manure and NPK in the ratio of 8:8:16 for each rose plant.

At the tight bud stage when one or two petals start unfolding, you can start harvesting roses. But practice harvesting only when there is peak demand in the market.
