Passion flower also popularly known as Krishna Kamal, Rakhi Bel, is a tropical flowering vine that has significance in both Sanatan & Christian Mythology.
You can grow passion flower directly in ground as well as in pots. Keep reading till the end if you want to grow this amazing flowering plant in your garden.
Krishna Kamal can grow in tropical to sub-tropical climate. Spring to late summer season is the active season of this plant. During winters it goes under rest or dormancy/
Well drained soil rich in organic matter. Prepare potting mix with 30% garden soil + 30% any organic compost + 30% cocopeat + 10% river sand.
Krishna Kamal love to grow well in bright direct sunlight for at least 6 hours daily. Avoid growing passion vine in low light condition.
Apply water when top layer of soil seems dry. Avoid dry spells for longer duration in pots, apply water moderately and have drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.
One teaspoon of 19:19:19 NPK with 3 to 4 granules of DAP or two handful of leaf manure with banana or onion peel fertilizer once after every 30 days.
Stop adding fertilizers during winters because at this time plant goes under dormancy. With onset of spring season prune old stems on which flowers bloomed and keep few stems.
