Lilium farming is the process of cultivating and growing lilies for commercial or personal purposes. They are widely used in decoration, cosmetics, & medicinal products.
Some of the common lily types include Asiatic lilies, Oriental lilies, Trumpet lilies, Oriental-Trumpet lilies, and Orienpet lilies.
Lilies thrive in well-drained soils with a pH range of 6.0 to 6.5 which are rich in organic matter and nutrients. You should avoid planting lilies in areas prone to waterlogging
Lilium bulbs are planted in the fall or early spring when the soil is warm & moist. The planting depth should be three times the size of the bulb & spacing of 6 inches.
Drip irrigation is a popular method for irrigating liliums. This method involves placing drip lines around the base of the plants, which slowly release water over a period of time.
Apply Calcium Nitrate (2.5 gram/m2/week), NPK 19:19:19 (0.5 gram/m2/week), Potassium nitrate (2.2 grams/m2/week), Micronutrient (1.2 grams/m2/week).
Lilies are ready for harvest when the flowers are fully open and the color is vibrant. You can harvest the flowers using sharp scissors.
