How To Start Gardening Successfully

Gardening is an art or science of growing flowers, vegetables, herbs, and decorative plants in the small space and it is very helpful in lowering stress, burning calories, and connecting with nature. 

And if you want to increase happiness in your life by diving deep into gardening then following these tips could be very helpful.

Start Small

Do not start by bringing lot of unknown plants in to your new garden place at once due to excitement.  This can lead to failure. 

Easy To Grow Plants

Start gardening by bringing easy to grow and hardy plants such as Pothos, Spider plant, Snake plant, sunflower, hibiscus, marigold, etc. 

Adaptibility

Make sure that the plant you are bringing are suitable to grow in the local climate of your region. You can find these details on agriculture review website. 

Soil 

Take care about what kind of soil your plant needs. Commonly 50% garden soil + 30% compost + 20% cocopeat works well but plants such as cactus have specific needs. 

Pot

Prefer growing small to medium sized plant in earthen pots rather than plastic ones because aeration is good in them. Also make sure to have drainage holes at the bottom of pot. 

Sunlight

Not all plants can grow under direct sunlight. Keeping houseplants such as pothos or snake plant can result in damaging them.. But plants such as sunflower requires direct sunlight. 

Watering

Avoid over watering, that's the most common mistake a beginner does. Only water when top layer of soil becomes dry. 

Fertilizer

Different plant species have different fertilizer needs at different time. So get to know when you need to apply fertilizer and in what amount.

Pests & Diseases

Pests & diseases can harm your plants and can loot all your hardwork, so you need to learn on how to get rid off them. Neem oil works well. 

Gardening Tools

You must have gardening tools such as germination tray, pruning shears, khurpi, gloves etc. to carry out various activities in the garden.
