It is a summer flowering plant which is planted from March to May and flowers from June to September. It can grow well in temperature ranging from 15 to 35 degrees Celsius.
They prefer to grow in well draining sandy loam soil. You can prepare potting mix with 40% soil + 30% compost + 20% cocopeat + 10% river sand.
You can grow cornflower under bright direct to indirect sunlight. However, avoid growing them in low light conditions.
They are draught tolerant plants that can tolerate dry spells. But for best results, keep the soil little moist but not soggy. Avoid overwatering.
It is a low maintenance plant that can grow without adding any additional fertilizers. But you can add one handful of dung manure after every 30 days.
To promote flowering in the plant, remove spent flowers. Also avoid overcrowding plants to promote healthy growth in the plant.
