Vinca also known as Periwinkle or Sadabahar is a herbaceous annual flowering plant which is native to Europe, northwest Africa & southwest Asia.
If you are willing to start growing flowering plants then growing vinca could be a wonderful option as they are hardy & very easy to care for plants.
Vinca plants prefer to grow well in hot and humid climate. Avoid growing them in chilling cold temeprate climate.
You can grow periwinkle in wide range of soils, however sandy loam soil is good. Prepare potting mix with 50% soil + 30% compost + 20% compost.
Bright direct to indirect sunlight for at least 6 to 8 hours daily is essential for good growth of periwinkle plants. They don't like dark rooms.
Vinca is draught tolerant hence you do not need to water often. But for good health apply water whenever top layer of soil becomes dry.
Although sadabahar can grow even without adding much fertilizer but to boost growth & flowering you can add handful of dung manure every month.
