It is a genus of flowering plants from Daisy family in which flower can be red, orange, yellow, pink, purple, and white in colour and plant can grow up to 6 to 18 inches high.
You can grow gazania in tropical as well as in temperate climate. It is a summer flowering plant, start sowing seeds in early spring to summer season.
Well-drained, dry, and sandy soil with 6.5 pH is good. Prepare potting mix with 30% soil + 20% river sand + 20% cocopeat + 30% organic compost.
Direct sunlight for at least 5 to 6 hours daily ensures good growth of the plant. During very hot summer days kepp plant in semi shade.
Gazania plant loves moderate to less watering. Prefer adding water only when the top 1 to 2 inch layer of the soil becomes dry.
Add one handful of any organic manure once after every 30 days. During blooming season you can use either onion peel or banana peel fertilizer.
You can propagate gazania from seeds or from cuttings. Take cuttings of new growing stems along with roots and plant them in separate pots.
Try to save your plant from powdery mildew, mealy bugs, bacterial leaf spot, or crown rot. You can use neem oil spray t control them.
