Cosmos are herbaceous plant that are both annual & perennial depending on the cultivar and climate. Flowers of cosmos can attract beautiful butterflies and bees in your garden.
They can grow in hot tropical as we as cool temperate climate. In USDA zones 2 to 11 you can grow cosmos. Avoid growing in extreme cold or hot climatic condition.
Well drained, light soil with average fertility is good for cosmos plant. Prepare potting mix with 40% soil + 20% compost + 20% cocopeat + 20% river sand.
Start growing cosmos flower by seeds. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and gently cover it with cocopeat or potting mix and apply water gently.
Place your pot in the region where it can receive at least 4 to 6 hours of direct to indirect sunlight daily. Avoid growing in low light condition.
This beautiful flowering plant requires moderate watering and can also tolerate draught conditions. Avoid overwatering to care for cosmos plant.
After a month from plantation start fertilizing with 0ne tablespoon bonemeal or banana peel fertilizer every month. Do not use nitrogen rich fertilizers.
