Lavender is an amazing aromatic perennial plant that is native to Mediterranean, you can grow and care for lavender by following these tips.
Lavender plant can grow well in warm and dry climate with mild winters where temperature ranges from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Well draining, calcareous soil with pH around 7 to 8.3 is good for lavender. Prepare potting mix with 40% soil + 10% river sand + 30% compost + 20% pumice.
6 to 8 hours of bright direct sunlight daily is good for lavender plant. Avoid keeping in low light condition.
Moderate watering is good for lavender plant. Apply water only when top layer of soil becomes dry. Avoid waterlogging in pot.
At the beginning of spring season add three to four handful of leaf compost + one teaspoon bonemeal per plant.
From June to September you can propagate lavender plant from stem cuttings. You can also use softwood cuttings in spring season.
