Increasing population growth, climate change, & limited arable land posses a challenge to sustainable food production. Hence, vertical farming emerges as a promising solution.
Smart technologies, such as AI-driven systems, sensors, & robotic arms, are helping in operations and reducing labor-intensive tasks such as seed sowing & harvesting.
The future of vertical farming lies in establishing urban farming hubs, where buildings are designed with integrated vertical farming systems to promote local food system.
To enhance sustainability & reduce environmental impact Solar panels, wind turbines, and geothermal systems can power vertical farms, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Earlier plant were only grown under sunlight, but with the advancements in tLighting technology, we can use LED lights with specific light spectra tailored to plant growth stages.
AI can analyze climatic conditions, nutrient requirements, and plant health data, providing real-time insights to enable precise adjustments to maximize yields.
Researchers are developing genetically modified crops that can thrive in vertical farming conditions, including plants with enhanced nutrition, etc.
Moreover, if humans need to explore deeper into the space, they will need to produce in large amount but in smaller spaces, adopting vertical farming can solve this problem.
