If you are looking for easy to grow tropical houseplant with variegated foliage then croton is a great choice. Follow these tips to care for croton plant.

Croton is a tropical houseplant, hence love to grow well in warm and humid climate. Avoid growing in freezing temperature.

Well drained slightly acidic soil is good for growing crotons. Prepare potting mix with 50% garden soil + 20% coco-peat + 10% perlite & compost.

You can easily propagate crotons from stem cuttings, leaves, and air layering. Air layering is easy and best method for croton propagation.

Crotons can grow well under bright direct to indirect sunlight. Bright sunlight is required to get vibrant colour in its foliage.

Do not let the soil dry for longer duration. Apply water whenever top layer of soil becomes dry.

Apply 1/2 teaspoon NPK (10:10:10) or two handful of leaf compost/ dung manure once after every 30 days.

If roots have started coming out from the bottom of the pot then change the pot during spring season to keep the plant healthy.
