agriculture review
by aditya abhishek
The participation of women in agriculture is a vital aspect of global food security & rural development. Around 43% of the total agriculture workforce comprise females.
It is quite surprising to see that women's contribution is higher in developing & poor countries rather than in developed countries.
Pakistan, a country which is on the brink of economic crisis has the largest percentage of women participation in agriculture. 74% of employed women are in agriculture.
Tanzania, a country in East Africa has the second largest percentage of women participation in agriculture. 70% of employed women in Tanzania are in agriculture.
Gambia, a multiparty republic in WestAfrica has the third largest percentage of women participation in agriculture. 38% of employed women in Gambia are in agriculture.
Sri Lanka, a country located in the Indian Ocean has the fourth largest percentage of women participation in agriculture. 34% of employed women in Sri Lanka are in agriculture.
Turkey, a country located partly in Asia & partly in Europe has the fifth largest percentage of women participation in agriculture. 32% of employed women in Turkey are in agriculture.
