Blanket flowering plant also popular as "Gaillardia" is a short lived flowering, perennial plant. They are native to South & North America.
They are draught tolerant plants and love dry and hot climatic condition to grow well. The flower in summer season.
Loose, well draining soil rich in organic matter is good for growing blanket flower or Gaillardia plant. Prepare potting mix with 50% soil + 30% compost + 20% cocopeat.
Bright direct sunlight for at least 6 to 8 hours daily is suitable for blanket flower plant. Avoid keeping them in low light condition.
They can tolerate draught, but for best results you should keep soil little moist but not soggy. Water when top layer of soil becomes dry.
Avoid using nitrogen rich fertilizers. Use potassium and phosphorus rich fertilizers such as bonemeal, onion peel or banana peel fertilizers.
You can propagate Gaillardia by seeds, shoot tip cutting, or division in spring to early summer season.
