By aditya abhishek

If you establish one acre apple orchard , then you can hearvest around 20,000 to 30,000 apples depending on varieties & by selling them you can earn good amount of profit.

To cultivate apple you will need to make sure that your farm has well drained aerated loamy soil with pH around 5.5 to 6.5.

Apple is a temperate fruit plant, therefore you can cultivate them at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,700 above mean sea level which experience 1,000 to 1,500 chilling hours.

You can cultivate popular apple varieites such as Benoni, Irish Peach, Cox’s Orange Pippin, Ambri, Tydeman’s Early, Mollies Delicious, Starkrimson, Fanny Benoni, Red Delicious, etc.

You can plant apple tree from January to March in square or hexagonal system & can propagate apple tree by grafting, budding, or rootstocks.

Apply 10 Kilograms of Farm Yard Manure, 350 grams of nitrogen, potassium, and 175 grams of phosphorus per apple plant per year in split dozes.

In a year you will need to give 14 to 20 irrigations. Irrigate once after every 7 to 10 days during summer & 3 to 4 weeks during winter.

From 8th year after plantation, you can start harvesting apple. After full bloom, it will take around 150 days for fruits to mature.
