How To Control & Get Rid Of Aphids On Plants

What Are Aphids?

Aphids also known as greenfly, blackfly,  white woolly aphids, etc. are the sap sucking pests that can destroy your plants specially during spring & autumn season. 

Where To Find Aphids?

You can easily find aphids underside of leaves, young shoots and flower buds. From these regions on plant they suck sap. 

Ants and Aphids

Ants and Aphids exhibits mutualistic trophobiosis. Ants feed on honeydew secretion by aphids and in return they protect aphids. 

Symptoms

Curling of leaves and shoots, yellowing of leaves, and stunted plant growth, presence of ants are some common symptoms of aphids on plants. 

Control

You can control aphids through physical, biological, organic and inorganic methods easily. Let's learn about them one by one. 

Physical Control

Rinse off aphids from affected parts by applying water with enough pressure to get rid of aphids without damaging plat parts. 

Biological Control

You can introduce lady bird beetle or dragonflies into your farm or garden to control aphids. They are natural predators of aphids and doesn't harm plants. 

Organic Control

Take 3 ml of neem oil in 1 litre of water and 10 drops of liquid soap, mix them well and spray on affected parts twice in a week. 

Chemical Control

Use malathion, permethrin, acephate or any other insecticide for sap sucking pest once after every 7 days during early morning.
