Cauliflower is a winter vegetable crop that you can grow directly in the soil as well as in pots with drainage holes at the bottom. Follow these guidelines to sow seeds.
You can start sowing cauliflower seeds from August to October in India. For high germination, buy the best quality cauliflower seeds from the online marketplaces.
Sow seeds in a germination tray or 30-centimeter diameter container with 3 to 4 inches of depth. I suggest sowing cauliflower seeds in 30 centimeters diameter pots.
Avoid sowing seeds directly in clayey or poorly drained soils. Prepare potting mix with 40% cocopeat + 40% cow dung compost + 20% river sand. You can also add fungicide powder.
Fill the pot or germination tray with potting mix and broadcast seeds in the pot or sow one to two seeds in each compartment of the germination tray.
Cover seeds with a thin layer of potting mix and apply water gently to provide adequate moisture around the seeds for initiating germination.
Keep watering whenever potting soil seems dry and keep the medium under indirect sunlight, within 4 to 7 days seeds will start germinating.
