Precision agriculture is a modern, smart farming system in which GPS, Drone, IPM, etc. technologies are used to increase crop yield and reduce waste.
It is based on the 5 R's, applying the right input, at the right amount, to the right place, at the right time, and in the right manner.
In the 21st Century, when overuse of agrochemicals has become a serious problem, precision agriculture offers the best possible solution.
It reduces the risk of environmental pollution because fertilizers are only applied in the required amount at the perfect time, that's why wastage is minimal.
With the use of GPS and Drone technology, farmers can get real-time data of their fields. It helps them to monitor and identify problems very easily.
By practicing prescision agriculture, farmers can identify the areas where irrigation is required and where it is not. Hence, water is applied in an adequate amount.
Due to the application of fertilizers in the right amount at the right time, efficient irrigation and pest management, farmers can get a superior quality harvest.
Precision agriculture is cost-effective for commercial farming systems as labor cost, fertilizer cost, pesticide cost, etc. gets reduced, thus it is profitable for a large-scale farm.
