String of hearts is a popular evergreen succulent plant that you can also grow in hanging pots. They are native to South Africa, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe.
This beautiful plant can grow well in tropical to sub-tropical climate. Avoid growing them in place where winters are freezing.
Well drained sandy soil or cacti potting mix are good. Prepare potting mix with 40% soil + 30% river sand + 10% perlite + 10% compost.
You can propagate string of turtles from seed tubers which are present in the leaf axils. Take them out and plant in new pot, they will start growing.
Keep string of hearts near south east facing window where your plant can receive bright indirect sunlight throughout the day.
Avoid waterlogging in the pot, water only when top layer of soil becomes dry. Make sure that applied water drains out perfectly from drainage holes in the pot.
For healthy and vibrant growth, add nitrogen rich fertilizers such as tea leaf compost or vermicompost once after every 30 days from spring to fall only.
During spring to summer season, if roots have started coming out from the bottom hole of the pot then you can transplant them to a new large pot.
