Fiddle leaf fig tree is native to lowland tropical rainforest of Africa. It can grow up to 50 feet tall but you can also grow this amazing plant by following these tips.
Fiddle leaf fig grow well in warm tropical climate. USDA hardiness zones 10, 11, and 12 are suitable for this plant.
Well drained loamy soil with pH around 6 to 7 is good. Prepare potting mix with 50% garden soil + 30% compost + 20% cocopeat.
You can propagate fiddle leaf fig by taking 12 to 18 inches long stem cutting and planting them in well draining potting mix. Avoid soggy condition in the growing medium.
Keep fiddle leaf fig plant near a south-east facing window where plant can receive bright indirect sunlight throughout the day.
Too less and too much water can damage fiddle leaf fig plant. Apply water only when top layer of soil becomes dry.
Use nitrogen rich fertilizers for fertilizing fiddle leaf fig. Apply one tablespoon of tea leaf compost once after every month from spring to fall.
Once after every year during spring, if roots start coming out from drainage holes then you can transplant them to a bigger leaf.
