Do you think papaya is a fruit? Maybe according to public opinion but not botanically, papaya is actually a berry not a fruit.
Do you keep throwing black seeds present in the center of papaya, well papaya seeds are actually edible and have spicy peppery taste.
There is a special enzyme present in apapya and it is called "papain" which is often used as meat tenderizer.
In United States of America, Papaya is produced widely only in two states that are Hawaii and Florida.
According to researchers, papaya originated in Mesoamerica, which is probably Sothern Mexico. At present India is the largest producer of Papaya.
Every year India produces around 3 million tonnes of papaya. Other top papaya producing countries are Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, Indonesia, China, Peru,, etc.
From a single papaya you can get 120 calories, 30 grams carbohydrates, 21 grams sugar, 4.7 grams of fibres, 1 gram of protein, and less than 1 gram fat.
Within a span of 10 to 12 months a single papaya tree planted in your garden can grow up to 6 to 10 feet!
