Carrot is a delicious root vegetable that is a winter season crop. You can grow carrot in your garden by following our tips.
October to November is the best time to start sowing carrot seeds in hot tropical climate. In cold temperate climate sow seeds in spring season.
Carrots love loose, well drained, sandy loam soil. Prepare potting mix with 50% garden soil + 30% any organic compost + 20% river sand.
Sow seeds at a depth of 1/2 to 1 inches & maintain 2 to 3 inches space between two seeds, then apply water gently.
Daily 6 to 8 hours of direct, bright sunlight is essential for good growth of carrot, but they can also grow under indirect sunlight.
Keep the soil little moist but avoid soggy soil. Apply water only when top layer of soil seems dry, Avoid over watering.
Avoid adding nitrogen rich fertilizers, you can add bone meal or egg shells along with handful of organic compost once in a month.
After 90 to 120 days carrots to become ready for harvesting. You can start harvesting by loosening the soil around the plant & then take out complete root.
