Pollination is the process by which plants transfer pollen from the male reproductive organs to the female reproductive organs, leading to fertilization & the production of seeds.
Without pollination, flowers don't convert into fruits. Therefore, ensuring pollination in plants is necessary to promote fruitings in the plant.
Before worrying about pollinating indoor plants, you need to know whether your plants self pollinating or cross-pollinating.
self-pollinating plants such as carrots, beans, eggplants, etc. are capable of pollinating themselves. Therefore, you don't need to worry about pollinating them.
While plants such as cucmbers, tomatoes, etc. are benefitted from cross-pollination. Therefore, if natural pollinators are not present in your garden, you need to pollinate.
Dip the brush or swab into the flower's center, where the pollen is located, & gently transfer it to the stigma, the female reproductive organ.
Gently shake the plant to allow the pollen to fall from the male flowers to the female flowers. This method is effective in replicating the natural pollination.
Attract pollinators to your indoor garden by placing your plants near windows or doors that allow natural light and airflow. You can also plant pollinators attracting plants.
