How To Start Growing Bell Peppers

Bell pepper or Capsicum famous for its spicy fruits  is grown as annuals and can be harvested within 60 to 80 days after transplantation. Follow these tips to grow bell pepper. 

Introduction

You can  start sowing bell pepper seeds from mid January to end of February. They can grow well in cool temperate climate. 

Climate

Bell pepper love well draining soil rich in organic matter. Prepare potting mix with 40% soil + 40% compost + 20% cocopeat. 

Soil & Potting mix

Bright direct sunlight for at least 8 hours daily is required to get best results from bell peepr plant. Avoid growing them in low light condition.

Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. Water only when top layer of soil becomes dry. Do not let the soil dry for longer spells. 

watering

Use weekly ¼ teaspoon of seaweed will increase blooming and fruit production. Add handful of dung manure after every 30 days. 

fertilizers

You start sowing bell pepper seeds in germination tray, apply water immediately after sowing and keep under indirect sunlight. 

Propagation

Once your seedling reaches 3 to4 true leaved stage then you can start transplanting bell pepper or capsicum seedlings in the main pot.
