Also known as baby rubber plant, American rubber plant & pepper face plant is a popular perennial houseplant native to Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Tropical to sub-tropical climate with temperature ranging from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius is ideal for peperomia. They cannot withstand frost.
They love to grow in well draining light weight soil. Prepare potting mix with 40% soil + 20% compost + 20% orchid bark + 20% charcoal.
You can easily propagate peperomia by stem cuttings in water on directly in soil in spring to summer season.
Bright indirect sunlight throughout the day is good for peperomia. They can also grow in low light but avoid keeping them in direct sunlight.
Top and bottom watering is good for them, avoid overwatering and only apply water when top layer of soil becomes dry.
Once after every 30 days you can add one handful of leaf compost and during flowring phase add onion peel fertilizer.
Popular varieties of peperomia are Trailing jade, Raindrop, Emerald ripple pepper, Watermelon pepper, Pincushion peperomia, etc.
